The battles keep on coming, and this time, it's a battle for a badge!

Remember, Gym Battles are usually a bit different than regular ones, and in this Gym battle, the combatants had to use a minimum of two set patterns in their artwork and fight in a maze!

Effort (25 points)
- Cleanness - 2/5
- Color Composition - 4/10
- Picture Composition - 5/10

Attack Dynamics (15 points)
- Can we tell what is going on from the picture alone? - 4/5
- Are the poses dynamic or static? - 3/5
- Did you use a unique and interesting perspective? - 3/5

Creativity and Logic (20 Points)
- Does the battle portray a creative situation? - 6/10
- Is the logic that you used reasonable? (Is the situation and its outcome possible?) - 6/10

TOTAL SCORE: 33/60

The highlights:
- Your facial expressions are great, you've portrayed Dagny's sassy attitude well and show that she's still on top of the ladder in the battle. Kei's level of frustration is also shown well in both his facial expression and posture.
- The characters stand out well and aren't lost to the sea of purple. The bright colour palette you've used on both them and Kei's attack helps create a good focal point.
- You've met the conditions of the gym challenge quite well, you've utilized the supplied patterns well, the dot pattern lines up nicely with the wall and the way you have worked the other pattern into the hypnosis cloud is great. Although without reading the description, it's a little difficult to make out the battle is taking place in a maze.

Room for improvement/tips:
- There's way too much purple used in this image. Dagny's hypnosis attack, the wall behind the fighters and the wall at the far back are all just different shades of purple and bleed into one another. You could have made the far wall a bluish colour instead of purple and made the maze wall behind the fighters a brighter pink colour or even red so that they separate themselves from her attack.
- The shading on the characters is looking rather flat, compared to a few other images in your gallery I feel as though you could've added some more darker shades to both Dagny and Kei to help make the light source stand out a bit more. Some stronger shades could have been put on Dagny where her body meets her hypnosis attack to give it more depth.

Creativity and Logic (20 Points)

TOTAL SCORE: 49/60

The highlights:
- Your use of colours and effects in this image is amazing, nothing is to overpower and everything is crisp and clean, subject matter can be made out easily.
-  You've met the conditions of the gym challenge nicely, you've made it apparent that they're having the battle in a maze with the different ways the walls line up and you've made good use of the supplied patterns. I can instantly pick out which patterns you've used and where you have placed them in the image good job.

Room for improvement/tips:
- I'm confused by the shading in the lower right hand corner of the image, where exactly is the light source here? While it looks like it's coming from the wall and the light from said wall is not reflected off the floor (as seen with the back leg), substitute Kei's front leg has the light coming from both above and below, mostly from the ground. Dagny's attack also adds another confusing factor, it appears as though the light coming from the floor is a reflection of the attack, but where the move exits from Kei's body it's much darker suggesting it doesn't emit light at all.

►Creativity and Logic (20 Points)
- Does the battle portray a creative situation? - 7/10
- Is the logic that you used reasonable? (Is the situation and its outcome possible?) -9/10

-Highlights
- Colour contrast, the heavy difference from white and black is perfect, your choices in to make the subtle black border with the stalactites was very clever as well, packing the image into a neat frame while bring out the whites in the foreground of the image.
- Use of background and foreground, in an image like this it’s super important to nail the overall perspective of the figures, and you’ve done that so nicely. It gives the image a pleasant sense of depth that engages the audience greatly. Same with the different height in the walls, you could even get away with more dramatic differences to give it a extra ummph. Not to mention the beautiful use of textures.

-Tips
Focal point, Your aim was to put the focus on Kei’s substitute but the attention is drawn straight to the pink wall slapped in the middle before it moves onto kei substitute and then the rest of the image, the eye has to retrace the image instead of following a directional flow, the aim is there but is lost in the perspective choice.

Highlights

The image looks really fun and colourful, the textures are used nicely and follow the task at hand. Mixing up the hues of the purples was a great idea, purple and yellow are complementary colours so the overall choices are pleasant and really make Dagny stand out beautifully
The image has a nice amount of movement was well, the crazy scarf tails, Kei’s hoodie, you can totally tell a strong sense of power between the two.

Tips
Expressions, the face is just as important as the body when it comes to giving a picture life, when you create a scenario like this use the liberties given to you to bring out the best of a drawn feature. Make the audience feel with those in the image.
Information is lost in the background, without a reference to the ground it’s tough to envision the scale of environment or distance between the figures and the wall, especially with kei’s position which is killing it, adding in a shadow could really given that depth you’re after.
Use of strong shadows. That Dazzling Gleam looks like it’s producing a lot of light but there isn’t a strong shadow to emphasize that. A good thing to remember is if you’re gonna push it one way balance it with an equal negative. Also once you’re done chuck your image into grayscale, that way you can really see how much contrast is there if it doesn’t look right you know where to fix it.

You really do keep cranking out one amazing drawing after the other. The perspective here is just amazing, and so are the foreshortenings of the characters and the anatomy.
You worked well with the description given to you for the Gym Battle and the maze and the background look amazing.

On the minus side, the patterns seem out of place and doesn’t feel like they are fully incorporated in the picture. The shadows too look strange and out of place. There’s so much going on, and so many light sources that this could be perfect for shadows and lighting.

What I love in this piece is the use of the colours. It’s almost only purple, but you used it very creatively and in a lot of different hues and shades that it looks well knitted together and thought out. The attacks are well depicted and the patterns used are well incorporated in the piece.

The shadows could be more used, especially where Dagny is covered by the smoke. Kei gets more shadows on the other hand, but could use more lighting.
Also, we know you do amazing linework. remember, this is a gym battle, so be careful with hasty lines.
